So, I ain't got shit to do right now so let me get down and explain the differences between an enthusiast and a casual gamer, as I see em.

Being an enthusiast gamer entails that you are enthusiastic, excited, intrigued, fascinated by improving, evolving, advancing your gaming methods, your plans, strategies and timings. You are always on the look out for ways to better your speed, form and style. You want an edge, you want to rise above the others, and should make no excuses while doing so. Your gaming hardware: PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse, joystick etc etc scream look at me: I am better than yours.

The avid gamer will almost never start any game without first looking at the graphic settings: resolution, texture quality, world shadows, character shadows, brightness, et fucking cetera. He will make sure his DPI (dots per inch) number is just right, not too fast, not too slow. He knows this to be self evident: a wired mouse will not drive you ape shit when the batteries run low...because it has none.

For an avid gamer, it is all about the bragging rights, the stumping on colons and taking names. Big fucking ego is a must.

Now the casual gamer:

The casual gamer only wants his game to start up, don't give him shit and what will make him come back is the "time wasting" element. He does not see a point in pursuing first place, most kills, or most time played.

Since there is no drive behind the gaming, no wish to better himself, his equipment will reflect such style.

Unlike an enthusiast, he thinks that once the character moves, he is done "configuring".

The casual gamer is comfortably uncomfortable with his gaming, he wishes he can do better, which the thought can last an average of 8 seconds, then they are back to don't giving a fuck.
